Otalgia are –
Mike Jones, K Jones – All instruments, plus help from our friends.
Mike was heavily involved in the DIY tape scene of the Early Eighties, ran a tape label, edited and produced an anarcho punk fanzine and played in bands such as The Chromosomes, Effigies (UK) as well as releasing solo tracks (see discography for details of tracks of this era on the fantastic Messthetics Greatest Hiss CD.
Mike teamed up with K in 1985 and the band was born.
A relocation from Cardiff to Manchester followed and the bands first name was The Mist and then shortly changed to The Black Mist.
DJ and writer Dave Haslam reviewed our first demo tape in his excellent Debris Fanzine and said the name sounded like “A deodorant for gothic people!!” – which led to another name change to Otalgia (the medical name for earache).
